The Ottomin Group actively manages a global multi-asset class portfolio of investments, comprising fixed income, foreign exchange, property, infrastructure, private debt, private equity, global equities, venture capital and natural resources.

The Group aims to preserve and grow capital in real terms, seeking absolute returns and investing over a long-term time horizon.

From its origins as a resource sector financier, the Group has an extensive and reputable track record of providing finance to emerging and established mining companies when traditional forms of funding have been unavailable. Since then, the Group has expanded its funding into private equity and debt capital markets, playing an active role in providing deal structuring, management oversight and strategic direction to its counterparties.

The Group seeks out diversification by investing in a broad range of sectors, including commercial property, energy, hospitality, financial services, healthcare, natural resources, technology, tourism, transportation and utilities, either through direct investment opportunities or externally managed funds.

The Group has developed key relationships with specialist managers and institutions that provide access to opportunities, complementing the Group’s investment capability. The Group has an internal Investment Committee, which is responsible for deal selection, implementation, monitoring and management of the investment portfolio. The Group’s in-house capacity to analyse opportunities and assess risk enables us to be selective, nimble and timely in making investment decisions.

An example of the Group’s private equity and lending capability was the co-lead investment in the 16-hectare Sydney Zoo which opened in December 2019 and is located in western Sydney. The Group is a cornerstone investor and Richard Kovacs is a non-executive director of this $74m facility.
